Kromsan Closed Expansion Tanks
Kromsan Closed Expansion Tanks are designed to accommodate the volumetric expansion of heated water in heating systems, maintain static pressure generated by pumps at optimum usage levels in sanitary booster applications, reduce pump switching frequency, and compensate for water flow rate fluctuations. In any system, a properly selected expansion tank prevents sudden pressure spikes, extending the operational lifespan of installation components and pumps.
- Membranes used in Closed Expansion Tanks are replaceable bladder (bag) type.
- System water never comes into direct contact with the inner steel tank shell.
- Consequently, all Kromsan closed expansion tanks are suitable for both heating/cooling and potable water / sanitary installations.
- The membranes are made of high-grade EPDM. EPDM is a premium polymer membrane safe for food-grade and sanitary applications. It is completely odorless.
- Operating temperature range of Kromsan Closed Expansion Tanks is –10 ºC to +100 ºC.
- Antifreeze solutions used in cooling systems do not affect or degrade the membrane.
- Kromsan Closed Expansion Tanks are coated with durable electrostatic powder paint. Tanks of 50 Liters and larger feature built-in support legs.
- Expansion tanks of 100 Liters and above are equipped with a pressure gauge and air valve inside a protective side enclosure.
- Closed expansion tanks are pre-charged with nitrogen gas. When adjusting pressure at the installation site, compressed air can also be used.
- In heating systems, since circulating water does not evaporate, frequent system water replenishment is not required.
